Alexandra Wilson, 12, of Highlands Ranch, warms up in her toe shoes at the Colorado Ballet in Denver, CO, during an audition for the School of American Ballet’s Summer Courses. A student at the Academy of Colorado Ballet, she says, “I think I did pretty well… I had butterflies in my stomach.” Only 200 of the more than 2,000 aspiring ballet dancers who audition during the 20-city tour will land spots in the New York City School’s five-week summer program.
